First and foremost Mike, our server out on the back deck, was terrific. He was not only waiting on the tables but serving as bartender as well but never would you have known he was doing double duty. Always had a smile and time to explain items and give recommendations. We started with Corky's Cod Bites. Lightly breaded and perfectly fried they were very good. Serves with a sauce that was a great compliment to their mild taste. Hubby had the shrimp and bacon sandwich that Mike had mentioned and he truly enjoyed every bite. Lightly breaded and perfectly fried shrimp accompanied crispy bacon, fresh lettuce and tomatoes on a fresh bun. Served with cole slaw and French fries. My daughter and I both had the shrimp lunch. We both asked for fried and it was again perfectly breaded and fried. Large shrimp and very fresh. The baked potato and green beans were our choice of sides. Baked potato was steaming hot and the beans were served with boiled potato and a little bacon. How could you go wrong? Plenty of shady spots on the deck and a view of the St Johns River made for a perfect spot for a relaxing lunch.

Came for Mother's Day. Brought both sides of the family. Not a bad wait time, considering there was only ONE parking place left (including the overflow). Started off with a gator tail appetizer with ranch dressing. Deeeelish! They even ate the kale trimmings. More to come. ***okay side note, the table of like 12 right next to us just pitched a fit about how the food doesn't look like they thought it should...server didn't even bat an eye, just happily replaced it with something else they wanted. 5 star service!*** Alrighty, so we got our food after a little bit of a wait, it was nice and warm though, so no complaints. Everything was very good, except for they ran out of Oysters, so I got about 5 extra butterfly shrimp to replace them. My ONLY complaint about the food would be the "fish" that comes with the big mate platter honestly tasted like a Gorton's fish fillet from the freezer. The texture was a little tough (and TOO perfect throughout), and there was very little taste besides the breading. The shrimp was very good, the oysters, dunno, the gator tail was scrumptious. No room for the cheese grits and a couple of hush puppies, so they came home with us. All in all, even with the oyster shortage and the bland fish, I would still very definitely go back, AND rate them 5 stars! It is a bit out of the way, being in Palatka, but I would say it is worth the trip from anywhere south of Jax.

Great food and a great atmosphere. It is a very nice dinning experience. But it's not cheap. It is well worth the price. I love the seafood plater. They have outside seating that over looks the Saint Johns river. Very nice. And frequently have live music. Service has always been good for me.

Great stop on a Sunday afternoon drive through the forest. Mahi sandwich and bloody Mary for me! Both perfect and the view was spectacular.

Very bland food. My husband cooks substantially better. I feel like we wasted $ having lunch there. Nice decor & location on the river. Terribly disappointed by the food especially the cheese grits & stuffed flounder.

Food is good but wait staff congeniality could improve. GREAT seafood - they have the best gatortail! It's on the St Johns river with great inside and outdoor dining views. Live music at the outdoor Tiki Bar some days or nights. Nice place to bring guests from out of town.

The fried shrimp are fresh, sweet and the portions are respectable. The best baked potato you'll find almost anywhere (Hastings, FL), the service was quick and polite. We always stop by when we are in the area and have never been disappointed with what we get.

We stopped mid afternoon on a Sunday after swimming at Salt springs. Place was still buzzing with activity and we waited about 20 minutes for a table. Asked for another table away from some smokers (they allow smoking outside) and then we were ready! Had two for one draft beers, and a piña Colada got good reviews. Ordered appetizer trio of onion rings, gator tail and fried pickles, came out piping hot and was delicious! Then ordered various seafood lunches (lunch ends at four) and again, everything was super hot and delicious. I couldn't finish my fried shrimp but my husband quickly dispatched it! Late lunch for five with drinks, apps and full meals was just under $100. We had a great time and enjoyed the river views too! Our visiting New Yorker gave his stamp of approval too!

Great place to eat if you want to impress someone. We drive from Daytona Beach on a weekly basis to eat there. Food is fantastic. Seafood doesn't have a lot of breaded coating. There are lots of seafood places here in Daytona Beach but not like Corky Bell's.

Showed up at 3:00, signed a waiting list. Waited, waited, many empty tables, outside and inside. No one bussing them. I checked at the desk after about fifteen minutes. 12 or so groups ahead of us at that point. Still no tables opening up. (They were not cleaning them off) We have been here before many times and agreed that it was not a restaurant that we are willing to wait that long for the food. It is just OK. It was quite hot outside, shaded tables would be a bonus. A waiter passed by us, my wife asked about bussing the tables. He gave her a look, shrugged and scurried off. We made our way to the desk, checked the list one more time. Still a long wait. We asked to be removed from the list and left.

Once again Corky Bells was awesome. We we not to hungry so we had an appetizer trio---/ it was delicious and there was so much of it!!!! The fried pickles were really good. Sliced very thin and fried till crunchy. I think the cheese sticks were fresh, not frozen. The boneless wings were good too!!! Our server was really attentive and kept my drink glass filled. That earned her a nice tip!!!!!'

The ambiance deserves 5 stars. The food was average and the service was below par however she was in training. We ordered our drinks which she had little knowledge of alcohol as bartender had to come over for clarification. and before we even got them she asked if we were ready to order. Evidently they had specials which we were not made aware of. Drinks served in plastic cups. Collard greens had a huge ham bone so less collard greens. Never during the evening were plastic cups or plates removed from table so we could enjoy the surroundings. So if your looking for great view, music, decent drinks then go, but if your looking for a great meal then pass

Super good seafood !! The frog legs are prolly the best I've ever had in a restaurant. The decor is fun with a great view of the river they also have decent beer selection . Great place for a weekend getaway!!

We have never been let down...the food is always fantastic!!! A++++

Avoid this place! Each time I've been here it was progressively worse. The food is awful and overcoooked. The service is the worst I've ever encountered. I actually had to break into a conversation between bartender and waitresses after waiting one unserved at the bar for 10 minutes. Then you actually have to ask and keep asking for silverware, salt & pepper, tarter sauce and cocktail sauce, etc. I gave three tries and they've totally struck out with me.

Corky Bell's is a down-home, down-South, style seafood restaurant that not only gets its mission--Southern seafood, mostly fried, decent diversity though, decent drinks, plenty of beer, outside riverside seating--done right but has over the years built up such a local following that it's kinda a giant in its game. And it acts the part: you walk in even on a week-night and can expect a wait for a table and a staff that is really a small army. A small army of mainly young blond women in bright colored T-shirts and a couple good ol' boys wearing the same. Seriously, while they're super-nice and efficient I cannot stress how the sheer size of the staff will impress. It seems like they outnumber the customers at times, despite there being ample customers, too. For that reason I'm puzzled by the other reviewers who complained of unbussed tables or poor service, because what I found was very attentive and prompt service plus thinking "great day, how can they afford to pay all these people?". The food is what you'd expect: they do a good job on fried fish. The shrimp seem to be local and fresh--Mayport I'd presume. The hushpuppies are a bit sweet for my taste but overall good and perfectly fried, not burned. I know of a fine dining restaurant in Florida I love, but they often burn the hushpuppies. Corky's doesn't. They're paying attention. The cheese grits were good, too. I've had better shrimp (at Robinson's in Cedar Key) but these were fine. My friend's fried fish (not sure what kind, but it was fish and it was fried) was good, too. If you're just one or two people and they're busy, ask to sit at either the inside or outside bar: it will be (probably) no wait and faster service. There are very small things I could pick at about Corky's but I won't: overall, it's very good. It's not fancy but it's well-kempt and well-run. They know how to run a frier without getting stuff burnt nor too greasy, as they ought to know, since they do so much business in fried food. But it's no mean feat: carrying off large volumes of food of this nature isn't easy--maybe not fancy, but not easy, either.

Great food, but the wait time was terrible, and the restaurant was too loud to carry on a conversation with the person sitting across from you.
(4)David D.
Excellent food, generous portions, reasonable prices, good service, nice views. 5 out of 5. Service was attentive, friendly and prompt. Fried foods (gator tail, boneless wings, Southwest eggrolls) were tasty and not greasy. Lunch special of $7.50 broiled flounder had more than ample protein portion, hush puppies and two sides. The green (pole?) beans were perhaps the finest that I have ever had. Collards were very good. Two thumbs up and will return again.

I've been coming to the St. Johns River for my entire life - three decades - and am so pleased that East Palatka has a solid restaurant. At what used to be Gator Landing, this Corky Bell's location features the same menu as the original in Palatka. If you want fancy, prepared food, this is not the place for you (really, Palatka is not the place for you). But if you want large portions of excellent fried seafood served deckside with a beautiful view of the St. Johns, you're in the right place. My half and half shrimp and oyster plate was huge, especially for a lunch portion, and absolutely delicious. My wife and kids said the same for their plates: lunch shrimp, kids' fish, and kids' shrimp. We are particular about seafood - picky, really - and Corky Bell's has it right. The slaw was perfect as well. The cheese grits and French fries weren't as tasty, but you can't be perfect everywhere. Even the sweet tea was right. Overall, if you are looking for a delicious fried seafood meal after a long day on the water, you couldn't do much better than Corky Bell's.

This place is absolutely amazing. The blackened talapia is to die for. The fried shrimp is great, and no where within an hour will you find a better deal on the shrimp. Great value!!!!!! Service is top notch!
(5)Tom H.
Excellent seafood, super location on the river and attentive service. Beware of the Florida Gator decor so if you're not a gator fan, you may need to selectively close your eyes or glance in other directions from time to time. Theme starts with a 'Tebow' mailbox at the street and really gets cranked up inside. All in all.... A casual, fun place with great food!
(4)Rachel P.
Beautiful views on the St.John's River. Even better if you can come by boat! Often have life music outside on the back deck Thur-Sun. The seafood is good and you can get it fried, broiled, grilled, etc. I love the hush puppies just because I rarely get to eat them! Grab a drink at the bar and sit outside and enjoy the evening.

Heaven! I love this place sooo much. It is always one of the first stops when I am back home. The seafood is fresh and comes in massive quantities. One of my favorite local restaurants of all time. The atmosphere is gorgeous. Right on the river with a series of decks for you to sit and enjoy the scenery. They have live music here on the weekends and is always a good time. I highly recommend the large shrimp platter that could feed a small army... ok... maybe a small family... but you know what I mean. The clam chowder, Mahi and Grouper are also delicious. Prices are great, staff are friendly, atmosphere is incredible and the food is scrumptious. I want to go right now...

Great deck, and an awesome hang out for large parties. We had a large group so having room to socialize then sit and eat in outside its very functional. The appetizers were great, buffalo shrimp and stuffed shrimp were my favorite. The fish tacos were in a sale I really appreciate with heavy amounts of white fish not heavily breaded and the toppings on the side fajita style.

Great service! Great food! The shrimp is excellent, and raw oysters yummy. The location is good. Being that it is on the water is an added bonus.
(5)John S.
Fantastic. We come from Dublin Ohio for the fried oysters.
(5)Dorrell R.
Good service, great appitizers, decent seafood platter( blackened).
(4)Lary S.
bloody marys cost to high and not as good as Whitey Fish Camp....
(4)Bill C.
We've been here plenty and most of the time it is pretty good food. Setting and atmosphere is better than anywhere else around Palatka, especially with the outdoor dining. Although as someone else mentioned, sometimes it is a bit loud. Servings are generous, as are the drinks. Wait staff is friendly, but service is a little lacking, so don't be in a hurry. Most of the entrees are at least okay, if you like fried, some of those are very good. Shrimp tasted farm raised to me (like at Red Lobster). It may sound funny, but their cole slaw, hush puppies, and fried pickles are as good as anywhere.
(3)Stephen O.
Good food and a nice view. The fried shrimp are good and reasonably priced.
(3)Nikki S.
We had a large party (25+) come in before closing. Not only did they seat us but they gave us exceptional service and all our orders were correct. The food was wonderful.
(5)Dante F.
Wow what a meal! Fried shrimp, fried oysters, broiled sea scallops, a bowl of down home country cheese grits, green beans cooked with bacon and potato wedges, and hush puppies all for $14.99! And they didn't short you on the portions either. My parents loved the whole fried catfish they had. No complaints except the wait time, and that's the only reason they didn't get 5 stars. If you get anything grilled or blackened, ask them to put that order in about 10 minutes before the rest because my food was not as hot is it would have been if it hadn't sat in the kitchen waiting on my brother's blackened cod. Nevertheless, I recommend Corky Belle's if you like seafood and have a big appetite.
(4)Kenneth W.
Service is excellent. You would be hard pressed to find seafood any better. My wife and I go quite often and have never been disappointed. We recommend it to all.
(5)Susan P.
If you like bland food this place is for you. We had the sea food dinner for two. Had fried and broiled shrimp, fish, oyster, scallops, deviled crab and hush puppies. Came with two sides each. I had slaw and beans and rice. My husband had fry's (had to send back were not cooked well enough) and beans and rice. We also order the fried pickles. The service was average though our server was very nice. The only thing my husband and I thought was good was there cole slaw and the fried pickles. My suggestion go somewhere else.

Unbelievable amount of good food 'home cooked style' for the money! Nice setting with large deck outside right on the river (there was three gators having a meeting when I leaned over the rail off the deck!). Bar & service was fast, and friendly. Clean too! Plenty of parking

Ok. Wanted to stop here because I've driven by twice and the parking lot was PACKED on each occasion. The ambience of the place is very Cracker Barrelesque, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, just slightly different than what I had expected. We sat on the patio and listened to live music (it was Saturday), which was cool because it overlooks the water. Although the place was packed we were seated just as we were finishing our drink at the bar (the pina colada was pretty yummy). Service was a little slow, but as mentioned the place was packed. Food portions were enormous, but I wasn't impressed with the flavors. The breaded food was as expected (pretty good...how can you mess that up), but the broiled shrimp and blackened flounder (special for the night) I tasted was not outstanding. I expected some flavor from the blackened fish. Fries were really good. I'd go to this place again if I were really hungry and driving by or wanted drinks and munchie, but I definitely wouldn't make the trip from Gainesville to take friends out for a special meal.

Awesome southern seafood. Great atmosphere, great food, great service, clean, reasonably priced. The best place around for seafood without a doubt.
(5)Sylvia D.
We had a Get-Together at Corky Bell's, where people came from all parts of the USA, even from Washington state, of about 24 people. We called ahead to warn them and everyone met there. The Super-Friendly-Efficient-Nice lady that served our enormous table got everybody's order just right. It was the best place we could have picked! Now to the food... it was awesome. What can I say? Delicious!!!
(5)Steve V.
Not what it was before the move to this location - we've tried it 4 times since, and there is no consistency. The food is okay - I'm not so much interested in large portions as quality food, and they seem to think if they give you a lot, you won't mind average to below average food.Another reviewer said that you need to tell them when to cook the blackened food so it comes out at the same time - if I have to tell them how to cook, they don't need to be in the kitchen.Another reviewer hit it pretty much - bland. Food quality seems to be hinged on whether or not they're busy, or getting ready to close. If you happen to hit during a busy time or later on in the day,or if you order anything but seafood - that's when you're taking your chances. On two separate occasions, a person with us ordered chicken, and once it was overcooked (grilled), and the second time it was in a sandwich - the chicken was so overcooked and tough it appeared to have been griiled, microwaved, then hidden under a bunch of dressings in a sandwich. Complaints both times were countered with a free dessert - no good. Service is spotty, though most of the servers are upbeat and friendly. The restaurant itself is very clean, but when it gets busy the noise level will put some diners off.
